The dual architectural design strategy was to both inwardly respect the existing campus brick vernacular, while outwardly presenting a new open face toward the public exposure.  The massing toward the campus side is clad in brick, while the public side patient room wing embraces the outward view with an open transparent glazed façade.
The program includes, 108 med-surg beds, 59 intensive care beds, 10 operating rooms and a new emergency department.
