The design challenge was to fit this new replacement hospital expansion within a constrained site, with view corridor height restrictions, all while maintaining a fully operational existing hospital during construction.
These goals where achieved while adding, 120 new patient rooms, emergency department, intensive care unit, pediatrics wing and a new front door drop-off for the medical center campus.
The architectural character is inspired by the calming environment of the Southern California surf and sand, patterns and colors.
